Boman Irani

Not only is Boman Irani a highly acclaimed theatre actor but also a professional photographer and a television commercial model. Boman Irani made his theatre debut, in 1995, in Alyque Padamsee's musical Roshni. He then went on to play a double role in Raell Padamsee's, Family Ties. 38-year old Boman Irani really came into his own 1996, when he acted as the 75 year old Parsi, Dhunjisha Battiwalla, in Rahul da Cunha's production, I'm not Bajirao. The play has completed a two-year run and has performed throughout India, the Gulf and Singapore and is scheduled to go on tour to Kenya later this year. When Boman Irani is not busy on stage you will find him engrossed in photo-shoots. Boman Irani was the official photographer for Miss India 1997 and 1998, as well as The Elite Look of the Year - a very prominent pageant in India. Boman will be conducting his first solo exhibition in Mumbai in November this year.Playing Gandhi in Mahatma v/s Gandhi has definitely been the highlight of Boman Irani's career.

Jayati Bhatia

Twenty-six year old Jayati Bhatia started her training as an Indian classical dancer (Odissi) at the age of six. Jayati Bhatia is a national scholar from the Ministry of Culture, India. In 1993 Jayati Bhatia got a sponsorship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. After attaining her diploma in Drama from the Living Theatre Academy in India,Jayati Bhatia performed in numerous theatre productions such as ` Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov; Desire under the films by Eugene 0'Neill; A Streetcar named Desire by Tennessee Witliams and in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. The outstanding achievements of Jayati Bhatia in theatre won her the Best Actress Award 1991-1992 from the Urdu Academy in Dehli. Playing Kasturba, Gandhi's wife in Mahatma v/s Gandhi has definitely been the highlight of Jayati's career:

Nadine Naidoo

Writer, dramatist, musician, Nadine Naidoo heads the Creative Arts Studio. Presently in her final year of the B.A Communications degree, Nadine Naidoo is also an Associate Performer of Trinity College, London. Having begun her theatrical career in 1986 while still at school, she has received numerous accolades from the Natal Society for the Advancement of Music and Drama. Nadine Naidoo made her debut performance at the Playhouse at the 1996 Women's Arts Festival in Nadia, an original drama produced, directed and performed by Nadine. The role Nadine Naidoo played as Gulab in Mahatma vsGandhi follows closely on her performance as singer/songwriter/guitarist at the 1998 Playhouse Women's Art Festival. Her most recent achievement is Angel Watching, a Trailblazers audio-book production which she created in consultation with the Children's Rights Committee

Ajit Dalvi, Original Playwrite

Born in Murud-Janjira, in Raigad District, in India, Ajit Dalvi studied Political Science at Marathwada University in India. In 1974, Dalvi made his writing debut with his one act play, Adhantar. Since then he has written nine full-length plays, the latest being Gandhi Viruddha Gandhi. The play Shata Khand was written for the playwrite's workshop organized by Theatre Academy. The play won Ajit Dalvi the 1997 Best Amateur Playwrite Award. It also won Ajit Dalvi the Best Playwrite Award for 1987 -1988. The play has been recorded along with the writer's interview by National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai. Gandhi Viruddha Gandhi , was produced by Suyog and completed 14successful shows in Marathi. Ajit Dalvi won the Professional Playwrite Award for the second time in the State Professional Drama competition for the same play. Ajit Dalvi is current working on the film script for director Amol Palekar based on R.D Karve's biography. Ajit Dalvi wrote the Original Playwrite for Mahatma vs Gandhi .

Dinkar Joshi, original Gujarati Novelist

This enormously talented and poputar writer Dinkar Joshi has currently 87 titles to his name. Some of his works includes: Prakashi Padcchayo, Shyam Var Avone Angne, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum Amrityatra, amongst others. These novels have all been translated into other languages. Dinkar Joshi is also the recipient of various awards, and is the four-time winner of the Gujarati State Sahitya Academy Award, as well a second-time winner of the very prestigious Gujarati State Sahitya Parishad Award for Best Work and Novel. Dinkar Joshi wrote the Original Gujarati Novel of Mahatma vs Gandhi .

Tapas Sen, Lighting Designer

After graduating in Electrical Engineering, Tapas Sen joined the New Delhi Municipal Committee as a switchboard attendant at lrwin Hospital. Later Tapas Sen was Electrical Overseer at Delhi Cantonment. This technical background stood him in good stead for his future vocation. As founder member of the Delhi unit of the lndian Peoples' Theatre Association (IPTA) Tapas Sen was engaged in lighting the productions of the radical Sadhana Bose. Working with enormous resource constraints prevalent in Indian theatre, Tapas Sen made inventive use of objects for memorable plays such as Angar, Kallol and Setu. In 1993 Tapas Sen became the only Indian lighting designer ever to be invited to Bradford by the United Kingdom-based National Museum of Photography, Film and Television to participate in Showlight, its fourth Colloquium of Film, TV and Theatre Lighting.Tapas Sen is also an honorary member of the Association of Lighting Designers, which counts world-renowned experts such as Frederick Bentham, Michael Norton and Richard Pilbrow among its members. Tapas Sen played the role of lighting designer in the play Mahatma vs Gandhi .

Feroz Khan

After completing his Bachelor of Commerce and Accounting degree in Bombay, Feroz Khan decided to pursue a career in the performing arts. As an actor, Feroz Khan made his first theatre appearance in 1978 when he received the Best Actor Award the All lndia Inter-Collegiate Meet. Feroz Khan has had notable reviews for his performances from the national and international press. He starred as boy in Peter Shaffer's Equus in Hindi, as Clov in Samuel Beckett's Game (a Hindi adaptation), as the narrator in English plays such as Peter Shaffer's The Royal Hunt of the Sun, and as Harilal in Hindi plays such as Mahatma vs Gandhi. As a director, Feroz Khan has directed six full-length plays and 12 one-act plays. In 1990, The Royal Hunt of the Sun (52 shows) by Peter Shaffer, which Feroz Khan directed, was declared Play of the Year by the Times of India. For Mahatma vs Gandhi, Feroz Khan received rave reviews from the press in South Africa and a commendation letter from none other than The President of India, Mr K R Narayanan. Other important and acclaimed plays by Feroz include musical Gujarati plays such as Eva Mumbai Ma Chaal Jaiye - 80 shows),Hindi plays such as Tumhari Amrita (150 shows), and Urdu plays such as Saalgirah (76 shows). As the Artist and Director of the prestigious Prithvi Theatre, Bombay, from 1984 to 1992, Feroz Khan pioneered the Annual Theatre International Festival of plays.
